It has a history of being used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes in the traditional system of medicine Ayurveda, and currently it is being researched worldwide in locations such as the United States, Spain, and South Korea. Pinitol acts as an insulin-like substance (with glucose transporter activity), so it is starting to be introduced in the blood-sugar-level countermeasure market as a new functional-claim-meeting material.
